No analog with Morrowind. Please help
No analog with Morrowind. Please help
Hi I just bought xpadder so I can play the Elder Scrolls games. I have the game of the year pc dvd running on windows vista and an xbox 360 wireless controller using Microsofts wireless USB reciever (plus the original drivers and latest dx9). I made a profile and can't seem to get analog joysticks or triggers to work in the Morrowind control setup screen. I've tried enabling and disabling joystick from Morrowind options, but no luck. What's weird is that I can set a stick to mouse and use it within Windows, but when I load Morrowind, it doesn't work for the mouse anymore until I exit.
I even downloaded a profile, but no luck with analog stuff. Any help is appreciated. I only hope Oblivion isn't as much trouble when I get to it.
BTW I run both Morrowind and xpadder as administrator.

I don't know why the mouse emulation doesn't work for you in Morrowind, but I have a solution where you don't need Xpadder for that.
Open the file "Morrowind.ini", you find it in the Morrowind main folder.
Change the these two entries to the values you see here:
Joystick Look Up/Down=5
Joystick Look Left/Right=4
Now you should be able to look with the right stick, directly with the native gamepad support.
You will still need Xpadder to give both triggers any function, because Morrowind doesn't support to use axes for more than walking and looking.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As for Oblivion, there will be exactly the same problem. But the Oblivion.ini is written more complicated, so I have to look if I can find a way to solve it like that. If I can't figure out how, there is still the possibility to deactivate the native gamepad support in the .ini and to use completely Xpadder (except the mouse emulation doesn't work for you too).
In every way I will let you know if I have the best solution for Oblivion.

Re: No analog with Morrowind. Please help
Now I have a good solution for Oblivion.
Open the Oblivion.ini, you find it under "my Documents/my Games/Oblivion".
Edit these values:
I have assigned right and left mouse button to the triggers, perhaps you want to change this. Left Stick is for walking and over 80% for running.
I decided to disable the left stick in Oblivion and instead using Xpadder, because the game uses left and right much too sensitive and I couldn't find a way to change this.
Open the Oblivion.ini, you find it under "my Documents/my Games/Oblivion".
Edit these values:
- iJoystickMoveLeftRight=0
iJoystickMoveFrontBack=0
iJoystickLookLeftRight=4
iJoystickLookUpDown=5
fJoystickLookLRMult=0.1700
fJoystickLookUDMult=0.1700
Code: Select all
;--- Xpadder Profile Data ---
Version=2010.06.03
Name=Oblivion
Set1Stick1UpSlots=W,DISTANCE ZONE 80%,Left Shift,W
Set1Stick1RightSlots=D,DISTANCE ZONE 80%,Left Shift,D
Set1Stick1DownSlots=S,DISTANCE ZONE 80%,Left Shift,S
Set1Stick1LeftSlots=A,DISTANCE ZONE 80%,Left Shift,A
Set1TriggerLeftSlots=Right Mouse Button (2)
Set1TriggerRightSlots=Left Mouse Button (1)
I decided to disable the left stick in Oblivion and instead using Xpadder, because the game uses left and right much too sensitive and I couldn't find a way to change this.

plus "bUse Joystick=1" and everything else (which means except attack, block and movement) mapped in the game.myself wrote: Open the Oblivion.ini, you find it under "my Documents/my Games/Oblivion".

Yes the .ini part was easy. You are saying that this is all that is necessary to use the xbox controller? no mapping of the rest of the buttons?

Re: No analog with Morrowind. Please help
Not in Xpadder. You have to map them in the game.
Because of these two entries "iJoystickLookLeftRight=4
iJoystickLookUpDown=5" the right stick works directly with the game too.
They are necessary since it isn't possible to change the mapping for axes in the game.

Not sure that it is running properly. Should the player run when joystick is fully forward etc?

Your post says everything
CapsLock normally is for "Alway Run". Maybe you have changed something in Oblivions standard key settings .
Look if "Run" has Shift mapped (in the game).
