Need Help With Morrowind Profile

Post by jjetsky »

I am using the profile posted here

http://xpadder.com/forum4/viewtopic.php ... ind#p13334

Except that I found it awkward for me and I changed the Sneak to the D pad Down, and moved Camera to the Right Stick "button."

Code: Select all

I actually played for a month with this setup even though it drove me nuts. Whenever I would press the Dpad down for Sneak, it would change my weapon. :?

Well, anyway, I had a computer problem and had to do a full rebuild. I got my mods installed, thought I was good to go but the Saved Games were not happy so I am starting over.

I have the Xpadder configured as above, and I have the same funky problem, whenever I try to Sneak, I change weapons. But now, it's worse, the Sneak won't say 'locked.' As soon as I let go of the Dpad, it pops off.

Tonight, I noticed in the instructions that it says "Toggle First" and I don't know what that means.

Thanks for your help. JJ

The option in the game "use Joystick" (or similar) is disabled?

Maybe you had simply the Toggle enabled before. To enable the Toggle for this Dpad direction, open the assignment window for it and set the tick next to the blue toggle icon in the lower right left corner of this window.

What instructions? Of the profile (I cannot find anything), the game?

Sorry, Primal Fear, I should have posted the rest. (Bear in mind that I switched camera and sneak.)
In game set it to default control scheme (do NOT select joystick option). Ive managed to map all controls
except for the quick selects but they arent really needed.

Controls are as follows:

Left Stick - Move
Right Stick - Camera
Left Stick Clicked - Run
Right Stick Clicked - Sneak
A - Use / Interact
B - Menus
X - Draw Weapon
Y - Jump
RT - Attack / Use Spell / Select button whilst in Menus
LT - Ready Magic
LB + RB - Previous / Next Spells
Dpad Left + DPad Right - Previous / Next Weapon
Dpad Up - Rest
Dpad Down - Toggle First / Third Person Camera
Back Button - ESC Menu
Start - Journal
I did not select the joystick option, but I did not turn it off in the ini.

The right stick works with changing the camera view and stays clicked till I change it.

So I am thinking the toggle necessity must be somehow conneced to the D pad. When I push the Dpad up for "Rest" it works fine, but there is also a menu that I think controls the option because you pick X amount of time to pass and when it does, the screen opens. So maybe the toggle isn't needed there, I'm guessing because I don't even know what Toggle does.

I'll go try setting the toggle and see if that does the trick. Thanks.

Edit: Ok, I found the Toggle option and enabled it. That didn't work, it even took away the "sneak" icon that comes with the command setting when I press down on the Dpad.

Ah yes, now I found the toogle first.
Dpad Down - Toggle First / Third Person Camera
It means only that Dpad down causes switching between (toogles between) first person and third person camera.

Ok, that clears that up. But I'm still back to square one. The blasted sneak command is fleeting and won't say "locked" until I unlock it.

I know it worked before because after not playing for a few weeks I started playing and was getting myself clobbered trying to run away to check out the lay of the land and it took me awhile to realise I was in sneak mode. I wasn't playing this exact profile, but I lost the link to it because my Favorites got messed up when I rebuilt my computer. It was almost identical with just a few changes and I cannot recreate those changes.

I have now installed the game. Sneak doesn't toggle by design, so the toggle function of Xpadder is necessary. I had a small mistake in my post with the toggle, the toggle option is on the left side and not the right. If it is active, there should be a blue bar on the button of the specific button.

With the toggle, everything is working fine for me.

Could you please be more specific, Primal Fear? When I click on the left side all I see is the blank Xbox controller with all the slots assigned, but no functions.

This is my current setup

This is what I see if I click the left tool

Not that's the wrong window. You need to click on Dpad down (called CTRL / Sneak in this profile) in the main window, then a window opens with the title "Assignment: Dpad Down", set a tick in the lower left corner next to the icon that is probably represents a blue switch and click on OK.
