Deadly Premonition (X360), second set for driving +button prompts

Post by Primal Fear »

Benefits to other version:
-select weapons on RB/LB instead of the Dpad only
-Combat Mode on LT with Auto-aim possibility
-Run directly on left stick
-mouse spring in cars
-horn on left stick button (most notably )

Disadvantages:
-need to press a different button for entering cars, Y instead of A
-possibility to mix up main and driving controls
-F key for quicktime events is not that good placed on the right stick button
further details/profile screenshots: Show
-RT also activates the Auto-aim, push to more than 90% to deactivate it for aiming to the head
-be careful with B while in combat mode, it also drops melee weapons in an irretrievable way
-for driving a car, press Y instead of A to also switch to the driving controls
-if you/the game should mix up driving and main controls, accelerate in a car a little bit with the left stick before pressing Y or outside of a car go away from any interaction object before pressing Y to fix that
-holding X has the additional function (in both sets) to press Alt two times, this helps when the game has loading problems (means when you open the pause and see black for a while, you try to open a door and nothing happens anymore for a few seconds or long loading times)
Image
-RT has two steps, a slower one and a a slightly faster one with siren (police cars only)
-RB works via Tap&Hold, tapping it will activate the wipers and holding it will deactivate them

To have this correctly working you need to disable the broken native controller support.
The simple way to do that is installing the DPFix. With this mod the native controller support is deactivated by default, but check the resolution setting in the DPfix.ini to have it configured to your preferences. Also to mod the button prompts matching with my profile change "enableTextureOverride" to 1 and place this file into the folder ".../Steam/steamapps/common/Deadly Premonition The Director's Cut/dpfix/tex_override".
alternative way without DPfix and button prompts: Show
For another a little bit more complicated way without the possibility to mod the button prompts you need a second controller that you will disconnect while playing the game. To configure that workaround connect both controllers, press Windows key+R, type "joy.cpl" (without "), press Enter, click "Advanced...", select the controller you don't want to use and click OK and again OK. Now just disconnect the controller you have selected a preferred device every time you play the game. I have done this on Windows7, it may not work with other Windows versions but I'm confident about that. Note that you may need to select your preferred controller again as preferred device to use it in some games, but modern Xinput games aren't anyways affected by that.
